An auto ride in Bengaluru has turned into a viral feel-good story after a woman’s post about the driver’s unexpected connection to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) caught the internet’s attention.

During the ride, Apoorva noticed something unusual; her driver was sporting a jacket from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B). Her curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to ask about it.

The auto driver explained that he actually works full-time in the hostel mess at IIM-B. The jacket, he revealed, wasn’t bought – it was a thoughtful gift from the students, given to him as a token of appreciation for his work. Driving the auto, he added, was a part-time job he did to help support his family.

As Apoorva summed it up in her post, "My auto driver was wearing an IIM-B jacket. Of course, curious me had a little chat with him. He mentioned he works in the IIM-B hostel mess and that the students gifted him the jacket. Auto driving is his part-time job."

The wholesome exchange has resonated with thousands online. Many praised the kindness of the IIM-B students, as well as the driver’s determination and work ethic. The story has also sparked conversations about the dignity of labour and the unseen contributions of support staff in educational institutions.

One user wrote, "Kindness travels further than we think." Another commented, "IIMB students are, in fact, the sweetest. learnt it last week while seeing how they take care of everyone around."
