Bengaluru: In a disturbing incident, a software engineer attempted suicide near the Governor’s residence in Bengaluru, alleging that he was unable to cope with the harassment from his wife.
The incident occurred on Sunday and the individual has been identified as Junaid Ahmad, a native of Chikkaballapura district.
According to police sources, Junaid tried to take his own life by pouring petrol over himself and attempting to set himself ablaze. The police stated that he had accused his wife of mental torture and of filing a false dowry case along with several other legal complaints against him.
Junaid reportedly visited the Chikkaballapura police station to file a complaint against his wife, but alleged that the officers refused to register his grievance. Frustrated by the lack of action, he headed to Raj Bhavan to carry out the suicide attempt.
However, police officers present at the location intervened in time, detained him, and took him to the Vidhana Soudha police station. After hearing his account, the police counselled him and later released him, sources confirmed.
