The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued an urgent nationwide alert, directing all airports and aviation facilities to tighten security and surveillance between 22 September and 2 October following intelligence warnings of possible threats from anti-social or terrorist groups.

The advisory applies to airports, airstrips, helipads, flying schools, and aviation training institutes across the country. It comes ahead of a sensitive period that includes Independence Day celebrations and the festival season from August to November, a time often linked to higher security risks and hoax threats.

Officials said aviation units have been told to increase vigilance by stepping up security checks, deploying more personnel, conducting random baggage inspections, and strengthening perimeter and surveillance systems.

Passengers have been urged to stay alert but calm, carry valid ID, and allow extra time for possible delays due to security procedures. Authorities also advised the public to report any suspicious activity or items immediately.

BCAS stressed that similar alerts in past years have helped prevent incidents during high-risk periods, but warned that the threat of terrorism remains. Coordination with police, bomb squads, and emergency services is already in place to ensure swift response if needed.
