As the festival season continues, bank customers across India should take note of the upcoming major holidays. Closures will vary by state, so planning financial activities in advance is advised.

Key holidays at the end of September

A fixed long weekend will begin on September 27, when banks close nationwide for the fourth Saturday, followed by Sunday on September 28.

On September 29, banks will remain shut in states such as Tripura, Assam and West Bengal for Maha Saptami and Durga Puja.

The most extensive closures are scheduled for September 30, when banks will close for Maha Ashtami in Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Tripura.

Major closures in October

October will bring further festive disruptions. On October 1, banks will remain closed in many states including Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Assam and Uttar Pradesh for Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami.

The only nationwide closure will follow on October 2, observed for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, coinciding with Durga Puja and Dasara.
