The suspicious activity was observed in a rugged area overlooking the Buchher Post, prompting security forces to open retaliatory fire to deter the intruders.

Uri, Jammu and Kashmir: The Army launched an extensive cordon and search operation on Wednesday morning in the dense forest belt along the Line of Control near Buchher Post in the Kamalkote area of Uri, following reports of suspicious movement near a forward defensive location.
According to media reports, personnel from the 8 Rashtriya Rifles, operating under the 12 Infantry Brigade in the Uri sector, began the operation after troops at the Nanak Company Headquarters detected what appeared to be a potential Border Action Team infiltration near the Forward Defence Line.
A brief exchange of gunfire occurred upon initial contact with the suspected infiltrators, according to Republic World. While the firing quickly subsided, officials believe the terrorists may still be hiding in forested pockets, leading to continued and thorough search operations by the Army.
