New Delhi: An Indian Army soldier was assaulted by toll booth staff at the Bhuni toll plaza in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. A video of the attack went viral online, leading to the arrest of four employees.
The soldier, Kapil Kavad of the Rajput Regiment, was returning to his post in Srinagar after a holiday. While stuck in a long queue at the toll plaza, Kapil and his cousin reportedly got into an argument with the toll staff.
Concerned about missing his flight, Kapil stepped out of the car to speak with the employees. Reports say the altercation began when Kapil mentioned that his village was exempt from toll charges, which escalated the situation.
The argument quickly turned violent. The toll booth workers assaulted Kapil and his cousin. The video shows Kapil being hit with a stick, pinned to a pole, and verbally abused.
Following the incident, the police registered a case. Four toll booth staff have been arrested so far, and police are continuing efforts to apprehend other suspects.
