A private bus carrying around 35 passengers overturned on the ghat road in the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district in the early hours of Friday. According to ASR District Collector Dinesh Kumar, nine casualties have been confirmed so far, while several others sustained injuries.

The passengers, all hailing from Chittoor district, were travelling from Bhadrachalam to Annavaram after offering prayers at the Bhadrachalam temple. The bus accident in ASR district occurred on the Chittoor–Maredumilli Ghat Road, a route known for its sharp turns and dangerous ghat sections. According to preliminary inputs, the bus driver reportedly lost control while navigating the steep stretch, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Survivors have been shifted to the Bhadrachalam Area Hospital for treatment following the Andhra Pradesh ghat road accident.

Reacting to the Andhra Pradesh bus mishap, the Chief Minister expressed deep grief on X, calling the incident “heartbreaking.”

He posted, “The accident involving a private bus carrying passengers near Chittoor district in Alluri Sitarama Raju has deeply shaken us. It is heartbreaking that several lives were lost in this accident. I have spoken with officials and gathered details about the assistance being provided to the affected individuals. I have instructed authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure that the injured receive better medical aid. The government will stand by the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.”

Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with authorities working to assist victims of this AP bus accident. Further updates on casualties and medical conditions are awaited from district officials.
