New Delhi: Two unruly passengers were offloaded from a SpiceJet flight at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday after a dramatic attempt to enter the cockpit while the aircraft was taxiing for takeoff. The incident, which led to a nearly seven-hour delay for the Mumbai-bound flight, occurred on Monday, July 14, 2025.
According to SpiceJet, flight SG 9282, a Boeing 737, was preparing for its journey to Mumbai when the two passengers began causing a disruption. In an official statement, the airline said, "On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 operating from Delhi to Mumbai. The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing."
As per PTI reports, their disruptive behaviour also included quarrelling and refusing to fasten their seatbelts. SpiceJet further stated that despite repeated requests from the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the Captain, the two passengers refused to comply and return to their assigned seats.
Prioritising the safety of everyone on board, the Captain made the decision to return the aircraft to the bay. The disruptive duo was subsequently offloaded from the flight and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for further action. The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 12:30 PM, eventually took off at 7:21 PM, according to flight tracking data.
