Thrissur: “I want a uniform too, I’m also a policeman…” insisted three-year-old Manav. His determination was too strong for his family to resist. As his father, A Kiran, prepared for his passing-out parade as a Sub-Inspector, Manav arrived at the event dressed in a khaki uniform of his own. While his father marched in the parade, the little boy stood beside his grandfather Madhu and did not forget to salute his father.

Manav’s fascination with the uniform began when he saw the attire his father wore during training. His demand for a similar outfit grew persistent, and eventually, his family gave in, searching through shops to find a matching uniform. “We had no choice but to arrange one for him,” said his grandfather, who himself had retired as a Traffic Sub-Inspector from the Koyilandy Police Station. Manav is the son of his daughter.

Karthik, who hails from Meppayyur in Kozhikode had also been determined to wear the uniform. This aspiration led him to take the Sub-Inspector recruitment test while working as a Village Assistant.
He was employed at the Moodadi Village Office when he finally secured a position in the police force. His wife M S Anjana works with the Dairy Development Department.
