Thrissur: Anish George, a 46-year-old native of Thrissur living in Ireland, recently received a call from a volunteer organisation. They informed him that the stem cells he donated during a previous camp could potentially save the life of a 13-year-old boy suffering from leukaemia.
Anish had previously participated in a stem cell donation camp to help a five-year-old boy with the same illness, but sadly, that child passed away. When he received the new call, he immediately thought of his late mother, Selina, who also died from cancer. This memory motivated him to act quickly.

The organisation arranged for Anish to travel to Amrita hospital, providing him air tickets. He is scheduled to donate blood on October 18. Until then, he will undergo injections at home that will help boost his stem cell production.
Anish has B positive blood, while the recipient has O negative blood. After the stem cell donation, the boy will transition to Anish’s blood type, which is a standard procedure in such transplants.
Anish is son of Thrissur natives Chirammal George and Selina, and he works as a businessman in Thrissur. His wife, Kottayam native Mittu, is a nurse in Ireland, and together they have three children: Selmeritta, Danel Gio, and Edvarics, who are all students there.
