Police said the incident followed a complaint filed in May by Marudhai, a resident of Vijayalakshmi Colony in Sivakasi.

Sivakasi: A 26-year-old man, who had recently secured bail in a robbery case, was allegedly hacked to death by a woman at her residence in Sivakasi after she accused him of repeatedly harassing and sexually troubling her, police said.
The deceased was identified as Thanga Muneeswaran, a resident of Kaliamman Temple Old Street in Sivakasi.
Police said the incident followed a complaint filed in May by Marudhai, a resident of Vijayalakshmi Colony in Sivakasi. She had alleged that a six-member gang trespassed into her house while she was with her friends, including Eswari and Thilagam, from Anuppankulam village.
According to the complaint, the gang allegedly threatened the women with weapons and attacked Eswari on the head with a knife. The accused allegedly fled with gold earrings, silver anklets, mobile phones and Rs 7,000 in cash, with the stolen property collectively valued at around Rs 60,000.
Following the complaint, Sivakasi East Police registered a case and arrested Thanga Muneeswaran and five others. They were subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Thanga Muneeswaran was released on bail four days ago and had been reporting to Sivakasi East Police Station every day as required under his bail conditions.
Police said that following his release, he allegedly began visiting Marudhai's house daily and picking fights with her. She also accused him of sexually harassing and troubling her.
Police said Marudhai subsequently asked Thanga Muneeswaran to come to her house. When he arrived at the entrance, she allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes.
As he became disoriented and lost his balance, she allegedly attacked him multiple times on the neck with a sickle. He suffered severe injuries and died at the spot, police said.
A police team led by Sivakasi East Inspector Navaneetha Krishnan reached the scene, recovered the body and sent it to the Government Medical College Hospital in Virudhunagar for post-mortem examination.
Sivakasi East Police have registered a murder case and taken Marudhai, her 16-year-old son and a female relative from Villur in Madurai district to the police station for questioning. The investigation is underway.
