
Kollam: The Kollam Chief Judicial Magistrate has granted permission to give a confidential statement to a young writer's complaint that Malayalam director V K Prakash sexually assaulted her at a hotel in Kollam.
The Chief Magistrate Court heard the application and assigned First Class Magistrate (One), Kollam, Nikita Prasad, to take the statement of the complainant. After receiving the court's summons, the complainant will come to Kollam to testify in the coming days. The statement will be taken in the magistrate's chamber.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Prakash and the complainant were staying in adjoining rooms on the fourth floor of the hotel on the same day. The complainant was staying in another room near the room where Prakash was staying on the fourth floor of the hotel.
Prakash has been accused of sexually assaulting the complainant on April 4, 2022. The police team, led by Pallithottam SHO B Shafiq, collected the records, including bills paid by Prakash, from the hotel. The rent of one room was paid by bank transaction and the other room was paid directly in cash.
Many personalities in the Malayalam cinema industry are now facing sexual allegations following the release of the Hema Committee Report which looked into the harsh woking atmosphere faced by the women in the industry.
