
Alappuzha: In the latest development in Alappuzha hybrid ganja case, actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi appeared before the Excise Department on Monday morning. Both actors had been served notices earlier, summoning them for detailed questioning in connection with the investigation.
Shine was the first to arrive for questioning at 7:30 AM, followed by Sreenath Bhasi, who arrived at 8:15 AM with his lawyer. Besides, model Soumya has also been asked to appear for questioning on Monday.
Links to hybrid cannabis dealer
Earlier investigations revealed that actress Tasleema Sultana (Christina-41) had connections with both actors and the model. However, no evidence related to drug trafficking has been found so far. Based on this, authorities summoned Shine and Sreenath for questioning. They were instructed to appear by 10 AM.
Shine Tom Chacko’s links to the cannabis trade
It had earlier been suggested that Shine Tom Chacko had provided some information regarding cannabis trafficking in Alappuzha. Shine reportedly said that the hybrid cannabis brought into Alappuzha was intended for a prominent actor. He has been summoned to clarify the details of the transaction, and a special questionnaire has been prepared for this purpose.
The hybrid cannabis case: Details of the arrests
In the case of hybrid cannabis worth Rs 2 crores seized from a resort in Alappuzha, one of the accused is Tasleema Sultana. Tasleem’s husband, Sultan Akbar Ali, and his friend, Firoz, were also arrested by the Excise Department. Tasleema and Firoz were initially detained when they arrived at the resort for a narcotics dealing. During questioning, Tasleema claimed that actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi had been involved in trafficking drugs to the area.
