Nedumangad (Thiruvananthapuram): A gang of goons attacked police officials who came to investigate a birthday party organised at a house in Mukkola on Sunday.

Six officers, including Nedumangad Circle Inspector (CI) Rajesh and Sub-Inspectors (SIs) Austin and Santosh Kumar, were injured during the altercation. The police managed to arrest eight individuals, including Aneesh, a history-sheeter.

The incident happened around 11:40 p.m. when neighbours alerted authorities about the party at Aneesh's house. The party was held to celebrate the birthday of Aneesh's niece, but his family members were absent when the police arrived.

However, the police team were met with resistance when they attempted to arrest the suspects. All arrested individuals have previous criminal records and are involved in multiple cases across the district.

The injured officers were taken to Nedumangad District Hospital, and efforts are underway to capture the remaining suspects.
