According to police, the accused, identified as Gopi Singh Yadav, allegedly attacked his five-month pregnant wife, Roli Devi, following a domestic dispute.
Investigators said the woman suffered serious injuries during the assault, which led to a miscarriage, heavy bleeding and ultimately her death.
Allegations of prolonged assault
The victim’s 14-year-old daughter told police that her father had begun assaulting her mother in the morning and continued intermittently through the day.
She further alleged that the accused later went to a market, purchased abortion pills and forcibly administered them to the victim, worsening her condition.
