Kozhikode: Vadakkekara police on Friday closed the case filed by the father of the complainant woman in the alleged Pantheerankavu domestic violence incident, in which he claimed that she was missing.

The move came after the complainant, who is currently residing in Delhi, flew down to Kochi and appeared before the magistrate, informing them that she was not interested in living with her family. She also stated that she was safe and secure in the national capital.

A few days ago, the complainant’s father had lodged a complaint at the Vadakkekara police station, saying that his daughter, who had left home for work, had gone missing.

The police launched an investigation as per the complaint. They identified the location of the complainant by referring to the details of a YouTube video posted by her and by tracing her mobile conversations with her mother. They got in touch with the woman, who is living in Delhi. They requested her to fly down to Kochi.

The complainant arrived at Kochi airport at 8:30 PM on Thursday. As she landed, she was taken into custody and sent for a medical examination. Later, she was produced in front of the magistrate, where her father and brother also arrived.

The woman told the magistrate that she was not interested in going along with her family members. She stated that she felt safer staying in Delhi than being at home. She ridiculed the missing complaint lodged by her father, calling it baseless, and said that she was in constant touch with her parents over the phone.

After the procedures, the woman was taken to Kochi airport escorted by police, where she boarded her flight to Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court has accepted a petition for quashing the case pertaining to the Pantheerankavu domestic violence incident. It will be considered on Monday. The police informed that the charge sheet would be submitted in a week.
