Jaipur: The Border Security Force (BSF) seized heroin valued at Rs 5 crore after intercepting a drone from Pakistan near the international border in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar on Friday.

Gaurav Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Sri Ganganagar, said the drone was spotted in a field between Kailash Post and Sherpura Post in Anupgarh sector. Villagers who noticed the suspicious flying object promptly informed the local police.

BSF personnel responded swiftly and found a yellow packet, attached to the drone, containing one kilogram of heroin.

Consignment believed to be Pakistani origin

"The consignment, believed to have been sent from Pakistan, was found near the barbed-wire fencing along the international border. The estimated value of the heroin in the international market is Rs 5 crore," Yadav said.

He added, "The packet looks around one month old, however, we will investigate further to dig into detail."

The BSF was in the process of handing over the consignment to the local police at the time of reporting.

Security intensified along the border

Following the seizure, the BSF launched a large-scale search operation across the region. Security agencies have been placed on high alert to thwart any further cross-border smuggling attempts.

This interception is part of an ongoing pattern of drone-linked drug trafficking along the border in 2025.
