Uttar Pradesh: A second-year BTech student, Udit Soni, died on Friday night after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of a hostel in Knowledge Park-3, Noida. The deceased was a resident of Bhognipur in Jhansi district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, Udit returned to the hostel late at night with two friends after consuming alcohol. Hostel authorities reportedly reprimanded him for violating hostel rules and recorded a video of the confrontation, which was sent to his father.

Police said Udit’s father later spoke to him over the phone and allegedly warned of disciplinary action, including removal from college rolls and being called back home. Officials stated that Udit appeared distressed after the conversation.

Shortly thereafter, Udit allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the hostel building. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police reached the spot and completed legal formalities. The body was sent for post-mortem examination in the presence of family members, who arrived soon after the incident. Statements from hostel staff, students and others present are being recorded to establish the sequence of events.

Senior police officers visited the hostel to assess the situation and interact with students. An FIR is being registered based on a complaint filed by the family.

Following the incident, unrest was reported on the campus, with some students vandalising buses and hostel property. A section of students alleged that Udit was assaulted by the hostel warden and owner and thrown from the roof. Police said two people have been taken into custody for questioning, and the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities stated that the situation is currently under control and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
