Nenmara, Palakkad: The manhunt to track Chenthamara, the accused in the Nenmara double murder case, continues on Tuesday, while the family of the victims, Sudhakaran (56) and his mother Lakshmi (75), still reels from the shock.
Sudhakaran's children are devastated after the brutal murder of their father and grandmother on Monday by Chenthamara, the same person responsible for the murder of their mother, Sajitha, in 2019. Relying on their father and grandmother for support, the children are now left with nothing but grief.
One of the daughters, who had been staying at their mother's house due to fear of being killed, said the bodies be cremated at her parents' house. "It's a house that my father built with hard work. Grandmother used to never leave the place. They should stay there. Don't take them anywhere else," the children said.
“How will we trust the police anymore? The police must somehow find him. Only then will we have peace, otherwise, he might kill us too," the children said.
“Only after my mother’s death did we get to know that he had this superstition about women with long hair causing him problems. He killed my mother because she had really long hair. We don’t know why he killed our father and grandmother. Even father used to say, ‘Don’t worry, nothing will happen anymore,’” they added.
"Chenthamara never talks to anyone. I don’t know why he killed my father and mother for," the children said.
Chenthamara, who had been released on bail after murdering Sajitha in 2019, allegedly murdered Sudhakaran (56) and his mother Lakshmi (75) in a similar manner. Local residents Pushpa, revealed that Chenthamara had held superstitions about women with long hair, believing them to be the cause of his family’s problems, and had even threatened her.
The police, who had been investigating the murder of Sajitha, have now intensified their search for Chenthamara, who is believed to have fled into the forests around Arakkamala. Despite the police's extensive search efforts, including dog squads and forensic experts, Chenthamara managed to elude capture. The investigation revealed that Chenthamara had planned both murders with meticulous care, with the killings of Sudhakaran and his mother mirroring the earlier crime.
The grief-stricken children expressed their sorrow, saying, "Mom was killed, now father is gone too." The family’s tragic ordeal continues as they struggle to come to terms with the devastating loss.
