Three men remanded in Kannur for alleged moral policing leading to a woman`s suicide

Kannur: Three men have been remanded in judicial custody in connection with the death of a woman who was found dead at her residence in Kayalode, under the jurisdiction of the Pinarayi Police Station, on Tuesday, according to Kerala Police.
The woman is believed to have died by suicide following an incident of alleged moral policing by a group of local residents. The arrested individuals are Parambayi residents M C Mubsheer (28) of V.C. Manzil, K A Faisal (34) of Kaniyan Valappil, and V K Rafnas (24) of Koodathan Kandi House. They were produced before the court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening near the Achankara Mosque, where Raseena was seen sitting in a car with her male friend. The accused allegedly dragged the young man out of the vehicle, assaulted him brutally at a nearby ground, and confiscated his mobile phone and tablet. On Tuesday, Raseena was found hanging in her bedroom.
The Pinarayi Police confirmed that the arrests were made based on information recovered from Raseena's suicide note.
K.K. Vinod Kumar, BJP's Kannur District President, alleged that the young woman’s death, which occurred in Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s hometown, was a direct result of SDPI-linked terrorist activity.
"Kannur is the Chief Minister's district. The mob trial took place near CM's residence. One lady was talking with a man. What is wrong in that? 3 SDPI workers reached there. That man was brought to SDPI office and brutally attacked. Three persons are remanded. SDPI leaders' action was present behind this incident. " Vinod Kumar said.
