This is the second major theft reported under Chevayur Police. A similar case in Parambil Bazar involved 25 sovereigns of gold stolen from another empty house

Kozhikode: A shocking theft took place on Sunday at the home of Dr. Gayathri in Chevarmbalam, Kozhikode, where 45 sovereigns of gold ornaments were reportedly stolen.
The Chevayur Police say the theft happened around 1:55 AM. The gold, stored in a cupboard and a table, was taken while the house was empty. Dr. Gayathri, from Thiruvananthapuram, had left for her hometown on September 11.
Police believe the thief had studied the house and knew it was unoccupied. The intruder first opened the gate and then broke the front door to get inside. Interestingly, CCTV footage shows the person checking the gate’s security before entering.
Investigation underway with CCTV help
The police are using the CCTV footage from inside the house to identify the thief. Officials suspect someone with knowledge of the area carried out the robbery.
This is the second big theft recently reported in the Chevayur Police area. Another case in Parambil Bazaar involved 25 sovereigns of gold stolen from a locked, empty house. CCTV footage is also helping the police in that case.
