A year apart, the deaths of Ketan Agarwal and Raja Raghuvanshi reveal striking similarities involving alleged betrayal, secret relationships and murder accusations.

A year ago, Raja Raghuvanshi left for his honeymoon in Meghalaya with his newlywed wife. He never returned.
This week, Maharashtra police alleged that Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, who was preparing for his wedding later this year, met a similarly tragic fate.
While the two cases unfolded hundreds of kilometres apart and under different circumstances, investigators say both are linked by a disturbing common thread: Allegations that the victims were killed by women they were planning to spend their lives with, with another man allegedly playing a role in the crime.
The comparison has resurfaced after the arrest of Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary in connection with Agarwal's death at Lohagad Fort near Pune.
From honeymoon tragedy to pre-wedding death
The first case shocked the country in June 2025 when Raja, a businessman from Indore, was found dead in a gorge in Meghalaya during his honeymoon.
He had married Sonam Raghuvanshi just days earlier after the two were introduced through a community matrimonial arrangement.
Investigators later alleged that Sonam had conspired with her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, to murder Raja during the trip. Police claimed the killing was carefully planned and both accused were subsequently arrested.
Almost exactly a year later, another young man's death triggered a similar investigation.
On June 18, 2026, Agarwal, son of a prominent construction businessman from Pimpri-Chinchwad, travelled to Lohagad Fort with his fiancée Goyal to celebrate her birthday.
Hours later, Goyal told authorities that Agarwal had slipped while taking photographs and fallen into a gorge.
Alleged affairs at the centre of both cases
The Lohagad incident was initially treated as an accidental death. However, investigators later found evidence that led them to suspect foul play.
Police allege that Goyal was in a relationship with Chaudhary and did not want to marry Agarwal despite their engagement earlier this year.
According to investigators, Chaudhary was present at the fort when Agarwal died. Police claim the two conspired to kill him and staged the incident as an accident. Both have been arrested, and a murder case has been registered.
Though the investigations remain separate, the similarities are striking. In both cases, the victims were approaching major life milestones.
Both the deceased men entered relationships arranged by their families, unaware of the tragedy that lay ahead.
Raja had just begun married life and was on his honeymoon. Agarwal was months away from a lavish wedding that his family had spent months planning.
It is to be noted that Both victims were building futures with women they trusted, until those relationships became the focus of murder investigations.
For investigators, the parallels end there. For the families left behind, however, both cases tell the story of futures that were abruptly cut short by allegations of betrayal from those closest to them.
