Thrissur: A gang leader has been arrested for threatening to bomb the Thrissur police station and the Commissioner's office after the Police foiled his planned ‘Ranganna Style’ birthday celebration last year. The accused, Theekkattu Sajan, who had been absconding, was tracked down in Hyderabad and arrested with the help of the cyber cell.

The incident dates back to July 7 last year when police arrested several individuals, including minors, who were preparing to celebrate the accused’s birthday at Thekkinkadu Maidanam. The plan was to film reels of Sajan cutting the cake among his followers in the 'Ranganna Style' and share them on social media.

However, before Sajan could reach the venue, police intervened and took 32 individuals, including minors, into custody. While the minors were released after being warned, 16 others with criminal backgrounds were arrested. Sajan, however, managed to evade capture.

Following the arrests, a threatening phone call was made to Thrissur East Police Station, warning that the police station and the commissioner's office would be bombed if those arrested were not released.

Sajan, a native of Puttur, has 12 criminal cases against him, including three for murder. He is known for recruiting members through Instagram to expand his gang.
