Mysuru: A car belonging to a Kozhikode resident was allegedly attacked and gold worth ₹1.5 crore was stolen near Nagarhole in Karnataka.

As per the police complaint filed by victim Vinu, a goldsmith, he was targeted around 8 pm on Thursday. The incident occurred near the Maddur Forest Checkpost, on the route from Bandipur to Kerala near Nagarhole.

The information came to light after Vinu filed a complaint with the police on Saturday. Vinu had reportedly bought a 1.2 kg gold bar from a goldsmith in Mandya and was travelling back home with a friend when the robbery occurred. A six-member gang allegedly attacked him and stole the gold bar, valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore.

According to the police, as Vinu and his friend began their journey after buying gold, three suspicious cars followed them. Near Nagarhole, one car lost control, while the other two blocked Vinu’s car. One of the attackers pulled Vinu’s friend from the driver’s seat and forced him to the back. The gang then drove the car into the forest, forcibly took the bag containing the gold bar from Vinu, and fled.

Vinu and his friend reached the Maddur Forest Checkpost and reported the incident. Police from Gundalpet Town conducted an inspection.

The investigation is ongoing.
