Pulpally: In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man was brutally beaten up after asking for the repayment of a loan. Joseph, a resident of Perikkalloor, fell victim to a violent attack orchestrated by Roji (45) and his accomplice, who remains at large. The incident, which has been registered under several sections, including attempted murder, occurred at Roji's residence in Perikkalloor around 6 am on Wednesday.

Joseph and Roji had a history of financial transactions. A disagreement had arisen between the two as Roji had not repaid the money he borrowed from Joseph. On the previous day, Roji assured Joseph that he would return the money if he came to his house the following morning. Trusting his words, Joseph arrived at Roji's residence on his scooter at the agreed time.

Upon his arrival, Joseph was knocked down by Roji's Omni car. Soon, Roji and his friend started attacking Joseph with sticks and other tools. The assault  caused a serious injury to Joseph’s right leg, leaving it dangling.

The duo then carried injured Joseph to a nearby farm, where they continued their assault. The violence only ceased when Pulpally Police arrived at the scene at around 7 am, following a tip-off. 
Joseph was rescued and rushed to Mananthavady Government Medical College. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to a private medical college hospital in Meppadi for special treatment.

Roji was apprehended from the spot and remains in police custody. The police have intensified their search for Roji’s accomplice, who fled the scene.
