Mattancherry (Kerala): RSS sympathiser T G Mohandas has been taken into police custody by a Cyber Crime team from his residence in Mattancherry of Kochi in a case registered against him for making controversial and abusive remarks against students protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The team arrived at his residence in Mattancherry of Kochi for collecting evidence and carrying out his questioning.

T G Mohandas had previously posted hate speech targeting participants of the CJP-led protest, including derogatory statements aimed at female demonstrators.

A team from the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Cell carried out the action at his Kochi home. About 10 days prior, the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Police registered a case against him under various statutory provisions, including incitement to riot. 

The action follows a social media video uploaded by Mohandas, in which he advocated opening fire on student demonstrators after declaring a curfew in Delhi. In the video, he stated, “If I were given charge of this situation, I would declare a curfew within a four-square-kilometre radius. I would ask the crowd to disperse three times over a loudspeaker, and then I would open fire. People would scatter and run. Many would die, many others would not, and some would be permanently maimed.”

In another video, Mohandas made further abusive remarks against women and girls participating in the protest. He had stated, “In Delhi, rapes and gang rapes will happen, and no complaints will be lodged. The women and girls gathered there are those who enjoy it, especially those belonging to Leftist and secular groups. If someone dies in the process, they will simply turn them into the next martyrs”.

Strong public protests had erupted over the delay in taking action against T G Mohandas despite the formal registration of the case.
