Police said Singh surrendered at the Laxmi Nagar police station on Monday around 5 pm, confessing to the murder of his family members, whom he allegedly killed due to financial distress.

Delhi: A man, who was accused of murdering his mother, sister, and minor brother by feeding them dhatura-laced laddoos in Laxmi Nagar, revealed that he had made multiple attempts to end his own life over the past two months, including staging accidents, claiming snake bites, and injecting air into his body, but had failed each time.
The accused, identified as Yashbir Singh (23), a resident of Subhash Chowk in Laxmi Nagar, surrendered at Laxmi Nagar police station around 5 pm.

According to officials, “He stated that his mother confronted him a day earlier and told him that if he intended to die, he should first kill all family members and then face the consequences,” a senior police officer said, clarifying that the claims are based on the accused’s version and are being verified.
Singh told investigators that his family had been struggling with severe financial hardship, and his father, a truck driver, had not been living with them for the past six months. He also claimed to have taken a term life insurance policy worth around Rs 1.5 crore.
Police said Singh went to a temple near Yamuna Bank Metro Station on Monday morning, collected dhatura seeds, and prepared laddoos, which he fed to his mother Kavita (46), sister Meghna (24), and brother Mukul (14). After the three lost consciousness, Singh allegedly strangled them between 1.30 pm and 2 pm at their residence, before walking into the police station to surrender.
Crime scene inspection and forensic analysis are underway, and an FIR is being registered. “We have arrested the accused; further questioning from him and his neighbours is underway,” a police officer added.
