The postmortem report of 24-year-old Deepika Nagar in Greater Noida has revealed severe internal injuries and multiple trauma marks, intensifying suspicion in the alleged dowry death case.
Noida: The death of 24-year-old Deepika Nagar in Jalpura village of Greater Noida has triggered a major investigation after allegations of dowry-related harassment and possible murder surfaced.
Deepika reportedly died after falling from the terrace of her three-storey matrimonial home. While her in-laws claimed she fell accidentally, her family has alleged that she was subjected to repeated harassment and killed over dowry demands.

Postmortem findings reveal severe internal trauma
The postmortem report has disclosed extensive injuries, indicating significant internal trauma.
Doctors found evidence of a brain haemorrhage, with a hematoma in the middle and left side of the brain. This suggests severe head injury and heavy internal bleeding.
Multiple vital organs were also damaged. The report mentions a ruptured liver, spleen and kidney, along with extensive internal bleeding in different parts of the body.
Medical experts also observed that the heart chambers were empty, which is consistent with severe blood loss.
These findings have raised questions about whether the injuries were caused solely by a fall or involved additional physical assault prior to death.
External injuries and visible trauma
The postmortem also recorded multiple external injuries across Deepika’s body.
Key findings include:
- Swelling on the right side of the face
- Bleeding from the left ear
- Injuries on the elbow, forearm and thigh
- Bone-deep injury on the knee
- Abrasions and contusions on the chest and abdomen
- Injury marks near the waist and iliac region
- Multiple circular contusions and deep tissue damage
- Doctors also noted bleeding from the nose and mouth, suggesting significant trauma before or during death.
Police view and forensic examination
Police officials have stated that the cause of death is still under investigation and a final medical opinion is awaited.
The viscera has been preserved for forensic analysis to rule out poisoning or other contributing factors.
Authorities are also investigating whether the injuries occurred before the fall or were caused due to impact with structures below the building, such as iron grills or nets.
The postmortem examination was videographed as part of procedural requirements.
Deepika’s family has accused her husband and in-laws of continuous dowry demands and harassment after marriage.
They allege that the family demanded a Toyota Fortuner SUV along with cash worth ₹45–50 lakh. The family also claims Deepika was physically assaulted and emotionally distressed due to repeated pressure.
Her father stated that she had informed him on the day of the incident about being assaulted and harassed.
Relatives argue that the nature and spread of injuries are inconsistent with a simple accidental fall.
Family version and contradictions
The family has raised concerns over inconsistencies in the statements given by the in-laws.
They allege that different versions were provided about the incident — first suggesting she fell from the stairs and later claiming she fell from the terrace.
They also claim that Deepika’s body showed multiple injury patterns that suggest assault prior to death.
Her relatives have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.
Police have arrested Deepika’s husband and father-in-law in connection with the case.
Several other accused named in the FIR are currently absconding, and multiple teams have been deployed to trace them.
Investigators are examining witness statements, forensic evidence and medical findings to determine whether this is a case of accidental death, suicide or homicide.
Further charges may be added depending on forensic conclusions.
Eyewitness account from the incident
An eyewitness stated that he heard a loud sound around midnight and rushed outside, where he saw Deepika lying on the ground.
He said neighbours immediately helped move her to a vehicle and took her to hospital.
The witness also mentioned that he did not hear of any prior disputes in the family, although this account is being cross-checked with other testimonies.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over dowry-related violence and women’s safety in matrimonial homes.
Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events leading to Deepika’s death, with forensic reports expected to play a crucial role in determining whether it was an accident or a case of deliberate violence.
