Chalakudy: The suspect in the ₹15 lakh robbery at Potta Federal Bank has made shocking revelations in his confession. He said the bank manager was not so smart as he immediately stepped aside when threatened with a knife. The accused, Rijo, also admitted that had the staff resisted, he might have abandoned the heist altogether.

Rijo further claimed that he never intended to take the entire cash from the bank and left as soon as he secured the amount he needed.

Meanwhile,  P G Babu, the manager of Potta Federal Bank, expressed relief at the suspect’s arrest. Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, he said he had expected the police to catch the culprit soon.

In a pre-dawn raid on Monday, police recovered ₹12 lakh of the stolen ₹15 lakh from Rijo’s house. The knife used to threaten the employees and the clothes he wore during the crime were also seized.

As part of the investigation, Rijo was taken to the bank for an on-site evidence collection, after which he would be presented before the court by Monday afternoon.
