Former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and former Delhi Jal Board (DJB) CEO Udit Prakash Rai, an IAS officer, are among six people arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in an alleged corruption case linked to the tendering of sewage treatment plant projects.

An ACB officer confirmed the arrests on Tuesday. The case relates to alleged irregularities in the tendering process for the augmentation and upgradation of sewage treatment plants under the DJB.

The other four accused arrested in the case are Ankit Srivastava, a former contractual consultant with the Delhi Jal Board, and three private individuals — Nagendra Yadav, Raja Kumar Kurra and Pankaj Verma.

The ACB announced the arrests in a statement, naming all six accused including, the Aam Aadmi Party leader.

The investigation centres on alleged manipulation of tender conditions and other irregularities in the award process for sewage treatment plant projects.

Case registered over alleged irregularities

The case was registered on May 11, 2024, following a complaint filed by the Directorate of Vigilance, according to the ACB.

The complaint alleged large-scale irregularities in the tendering process. It also alleged that tender conditions were manipulated as part of a criminal conspiracy.

The allegations concern projects for the augmentation and upgradation of sewage treatment plants of the Delhi Jal Board.

The latest arrests are part of the ACB investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the tendering process.
