Taller than the Eiffel Tower: WATCH India’s stunning Chenab Bridge
PM Modi inaugurates Chenab Bridge in J&K on June 6, the world`s highest railway arch bridge, connecting Delhi to Kashmir Valley.
Part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project, the bridge is situated in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir and connects the Katra–Sangaldan stretch, enabling direct rail connectivity between New Delhi and the Kashmir Valley for the first time.
The Chenab Bridge is an engineering marvel, standing 359 meters above the riverbed taller than the Eiffel Tower. It holds the record as the world’s highest railway arch bridge and has been constructed to withstand wind speeds over 250 km/h.
Built with nearly 30,000 metric tons of steel, the structure is a testament to India’s engineering might. One of its largest foundations, S20, covers an area about one-third the size of a football field, showcasing the massive scale of the project.
