The upcoming Union Budget will be framed around the government’s long-term vision of transforming India into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said.

The Union Budget 2026 is expected to outline the government’s roadmap for economic growth, employment, infrastructure development, and social welfare, with stakeholders across sectors closely watching for policy measures that could shape the country’s economic direction in the coming year.

The 2026-27 budget marks a milestone for Sitharaman, making her the first Indian finance minister to deliver nine uninterrupted budget speeches. The presentation, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., also breaks tradition as the first to be held on a Sunday to ensure the national financial statement remains aligned with the February 1 deadline.
