Rajasthan: Sitting gracefully atop a hill in Sarund village of Kotputli, the centuries-old Sarund Mata Temple stands as a significant center of faith, drawing devotees from across the region. Known for its spiritual aura and cultural importance, the temple remains deeply woven into the beliefs and traditions of local communities.
According to local lore, the temple’s origins are linked to an episode from the Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas passed through this region during their exile, lending the site a strong mythological connection that continues to resonate with devotees.

The presiding deity, Chilay Mata, is worshipped as a powerful goddess believed to protect devotees from diseases and hardships. Generations of worshippers have placed their faith in the deity, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and protection.
Reaching the temple is both a physical and spiritual journey. Devotees climb nearly 282 steps and pass through seven gates before arriving at the sanctum for darshan, a ritual that symbolises devotion and perseverance.
The temple witnesses a surge in footfall during Navratri, when special fairs and celebrations are organised. The festive atmosphere, combined with deep-rooted traditions, transforms the site into a vibrant hub of devotion.
