A Sambar deer roaming near Uttarakhand’s Kosi Barrage has been rescued by Ramnagar Forest officials
Ramnagar (Uttarakhand): The Ramnagar Forest Department successfully rescued a Sambar deer found near the Kosi Barrage on the Ramnagar-Haldwani road near Jim Corbett National Park on Sunday.
The deer, native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, had reportedly been roaming freely in the area for several months, raising concerns for both its safety and that of the local residents.
Officials promptly relocated the animal to the Corbett Tiger Reserve’s animal rescue centre to ensure its well-being. Authorities emphasised the importance of safeguarding wildlife and public safety, urging residents to report sightings of wild animals in residential areas and to avoid feeding them.
