Protests have erupted against the upcoming crime thriller ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’, with members of the Brahmin community alleging that the title is offensive and targets their community.

Demonstrations were held in Bhopal against the Manoj Bajpayee–starrer crime thriller, as protesters demanded an immediate change to the series’ title.

"Since yesterday the Brahmin community has been protesting on the road, demanding the title be changed," one protestor said.

The controversy has now reached the Delhi High Court. Advocate Vineet Jindal, who moved the petition, said the title unfairly singles out a particular community.

"..name of the title is objectionable, targeting a particular community. We had filed a petition before Delhi High Court. Notice was served to the Director last evening and today we got to know that he has issued a public notice, that the name of the movie and advertising material from all platforms will be withdrawn. This is a good step. But our objection is also with the content of the series. Our petition is listed for Monday..," advocated Vineet Jindal said.

Religious leaders have also expressed strong objections to the web series, which is slated to stream on Netflix. Swami Jyotirmayanand, Mahamandaleshwar, called for strict action.

"This is hideous...Strict action should be taken against people involved. We request government that no such series should run which divides communities" he said.

‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ centres on Ajay Dikshit, also known as Pandat, a corrupt police officer whose plans for a profitable and eventful night unravel when he becomes entangled in a global conspiracy unfolding in the heart of Delhi.
