Nilambur teak created history at a Forest Department auction in the Malappuram district of Kerala, as two premium teak logs were sold for a record ₹31.85 lakh, including taxes.

Believed to be over a century old, the high-value logs were auctioned at the Aruvakkode Central Depot after being felled from the Nellikkuth forest area under the Forest Department’s supervision.

The sale has set a new benchmark for teak auctions in Kerala, underscoring the exceptional quality, rarity, and sustained demand for the world-renowned Nilambur teak.
