Neeraj Chopra will miss Doha Diamond League 2026 due to back injury recovery in Switzerland ahead of CWG and Asian Games
Indian javelin throw sensation Neeraj Chopra will miss the Doha Diamond League 2026, scheduled for June 19 as he continues rehabilitation for a back injury in Switzerland. The Olympic gold and silver medallist is currently attending a 47-day off-season training camp in Bienne alongside physiotherapist Ishaan Marwaha and coach Jai Choudhary as part of preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
Chopra had made headlines in Doha last year by crossing the 90-metre mark for the first time and setting a national record of 90.23 metres.
Despite Chopra’s absence, the Doha Diamond League will feature a world-class javelin lineup including Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott, Grenada’s Anderson Peters, the USA's Curtis Thompson, Kenya’s Julius Yego and the Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch in one of the season’s biggest athletics events.
