Shanghai (China): A Mahan Air passenger flight from Tehran landed at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport on Wednesday (local time), despite a US threat to impose sanctions on countries and companies providing services to Iranian airlines. Flight-tracking data shows Mahan Air flight W577 arrived in Shanghai after departing Tehran.

The flight landed as China hosted diplomatic activity surrounding President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States for talks with US President Donald Trump.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had warned that airports and other service providers assisting Iranian airlines with fuel, landing services or ticket sales could face secondary sanctions. He said entities providing such services risk being “knocked out of the dollar system”.
