Eight rescued after swing malfunctions mid-air at Odisha’s Bali Jatra
Eight visitors, including two children, were rescued after being stranded for nearly two hours on a malfunctioning mechanical swing
Cuttack (Odisha): A mechanical swing at the well-known Bali Jatra fair unexpectedly malfunctioned on Wednesday night in midair, leaving eight people stranded about thirty feet above the ground for almost two hours. This caused panic among attendees.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when the swing came to an abrupt halt during operation. Among those trapped were a woman and two children, according to police.
Rescue teams, assisted by a hydraulic lift, managed to safely bring down all eight individuals while senior police officers, including Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, supervised the operation.
“All the persons trapped on the swing have been rescued,” confirmed DCP Dnyandeo.
Following the rescue, the victims were taken to a hospital for medical examination.
