All-women ‘Pink Booths’ shine in Bihar’s first phase of assembly elections
Pink-themed women-managed booths in Bihar aim to celebrate and empower women voters during the state’s first phase of assembly elections
The Election Commission of India has introduced a special initiative to boost women’s participation in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections by setting up polling booths entirely managed by women.
These "Pink Booths," which are decorated with pink banners and decorations, have been set up in a number of districts for the first phase of voting. The concept aims to create a welcoming and encouraging environment for women voters, reinforcing gender inclusivity in the electoral process.
At one such booth, polling official Shailesh Kumar said, “This is a pink booth, and all the polling staff here are women. There are two booths in this building, and all security arrangements are in place.”
Similar women-managed and model booths have been set up in districts like Gopalganj, featuring selfie points, trampolines for children, and voter-friendly facilities to make the polling experience more engaging and comfortable.
Around 3.75 crore voters will choose 1,314 candidates from 121 constituencies in 18 districts during the first phase. The second phase of polling is scheduled for November 11, while counting of votes will take place on November 14.
