41 Pally Durga Puja organisers oppose new guidelines, saying non-vegetarian bhog is part of Bengali tradition.
Preparations for the famous 41 Pally Durga Puja in Kolkata’s Haridevpur are underway, with the pandal taking shape ahead of the festival.
However, organisers have raised objections to the new Durga Puja guidelines, particularly the suggestion to prohibit non-vegetarian food counters.
The organisers say non-vegetarian bhog is part of their Bengali tradition and insist they will not change what is offered to the Goddess.
They also reacted to guidelines on liquor consumption on Mahashtami and the use of DJs, saying such restrictions should not dictate what people eat or how they celebrate.
