Composed by Jakes Bejoy and sung by Marayur native Bhuvaneshwar, the track offers an authentic local flavour.

Celebrating the rustic charm of Marayur and the mystique of its famed sandalwood forests, a vibrant new song from the upcoming film "Vilayath Buddha" has been released. Capturing the village landscape, the work culture of the locals, and the legacy of the renowned Marayur jaggery, the track opens with the lines, "Kattukkulle valarath santhanamaram…," and has been aptly described as the “Spirit of Marayur.” The song is composed by Jakes Bejoy and written and sung by Bhuvaneshwar, a native of Marayur, lending it an authentic local flavour.
"Vilayath Buddha", starring Prithviraj Sukumaran as Double Mohanan, a sandalwood smuggler, hits theatres tomorrow. Directed by Jayan Nambiar and produced by Sandip Senan under the banner of Urvashi Theatres in association with AVA Productions, the film promises a compelling cinematic experience set against the evocative backdrop of Marayur’s sandalwood forests, often described as trees as precious as gold.
The trailer hints at a gripping narrative packed with breathtaking visuals, intense action sequences, and emotionally charged family drama. Prithviraj sports a striking makeover as Double Mohanan, presenting a version of himself unlike anything seen before. Shammi Thilakan appears in a notable role, with Priyamvada Krishnan playing the female lead.
Based on G. R. Indugopan’s acclaimed novel "Vilayath Buddha", the film retains the book’s title in its cinematic adaptation. The screenplay is penned by G. R. Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan, with the story centring on themes of vengeance, retribution, and love. The ensemble cast also includes Anu Mohan, Rajashree Nair, T. J. Arunachalam, and others.
"Vilayath Buddha" marks another major venture from Urvashi Theatres following critically acclaimed films such as "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum", "Sathyan Paranjal Vishwasikkuvo", and "Saudi Vellakka". The film’s music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, while cinematography is handled by Arvind Kashyap and Renadive. Edited by Sreejith Sarang and designed by production designer Banglan, the film aims to offer a rich visual and emotional experience.
The previously released posters, teaser, and the song "Katturaasa" have already generated strong buzz on social media. The new promo song, with its immersive portrayal of Marayur and its people, is expected to further heighten anticipation as "Vilayath Buddha" arrives in theatres.
