Veteran Malayalam actor SI Rajasekharan, best known for portraying police officers in numerous films, passed away at his residence in Chingavanam, Kottayam, on Sunday.

He was a familiar face in Malayalam cinema for decades and was widely recognised for his powerful performances in police and villain roles.

Rajasekharan earned the screen name ‘SI Rajasekharan' after becoming one of the actors most frequently portraying police officers in Malayalam films. He was also a regular presence in several films directed by veteran filmmaker Joshiy.

Following the news of his demise, tributes poured in from across the Malayalam film industry. 

Superstar Mammootty paid his last respects through a social media post, sharing Rajasekharan's photograph with the caption, 'Tributes to actor SI Rajasekharan.'

Rajasekharan had been active in Malayalam cinema since the 1980s and delivered memorable performances in films such as ‘Sandarbham’, ‘Rajavinte Makan’, ‘Vazhiyorakkazhchakal’, ‘Mudra’, ‘Nair Saab’, ‘Sethurama Iyer CBI’, and ‘Thappana’.

He also appeared in ‘No. 20 Madras Mail’ and ‘Parassala Pachan Payyannur Paramu’, among several other films.

His final on-screen appearance came in the 2015 film ‘Oru Second Class Yathra’. Apart from films, Rajasekharan also featured in several Malayalam television serials, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
