One of the many beloved celebrity couples is actor Dulquer Salmaan and Amal Sufiya. Dulquer got married to Amal, a Chennai-based architect on December 22, 2011. Dulquer marked his debut on the silver screen a year later in 2012, with ‘Second Show’. The couple welcomed their baby girl, Maryam Amira Salman in 2017. 

Dulquer recently opened up about his first meeting with Amal and their marriage. In an interview given to a YouTube channel, Dulquer revealed that theirs was a love marriage with family’s blessings. 

They became friends at a time when social media was not so prevalent. They studied in the same school. Amal was five years junior to Dulquer. He revealed that they used to meet and talk frequently but never looked at her in a romantic sense then.  He met Amal again after completing his studies in the US.

“When we reach a certain age, our families start thinking of marriage. They say you either find somebody or we’ll find somebody for you. I don’t like the whole arranged marriage process. I can’t go meet somebody and accept or reject her like that. And for some reason, maybe the Universe aligning or something, I kept bumping into Amal in Chennai and I thought maybe this was a sign. So I reached out to her on Facebook saying, Hey, I don’t know if you remember but I’m your senior from school”.
 
After this Dulquer told his parents about this possible alliance and the rest, as they say, is history.
