Nivin Pauly-Ram’s ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ to release worldwide on October 1; Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films to bring the film to Kerala
Nivin Pauly and acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Ram’s romantic psychological thriller ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 1. Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films will bring the film to Kerala.
Written and directed by Ram, the film stars Nivin Pauly, Anjali and Soori in the central roles. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions, ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ marks Nivin Pauly’s return to Tamil cinema after Gautham Ramachandran’s 2017 film ‘Richie’.
The film has already drawn attention on the international festival circuit. ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ premiered at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam, where it received strong critical acclaim. It was also one of 12 films selected to compete for the VPRO Big Screen Award at the festival.
Nivin Pauly is said to play an immortal character who has lived for more than 8,000 years. The teaser hints at a story centred on the relationship between an ordinary man and an immortal who has spent centuries wandering in search of his love.
The two characters meet during a train journey, setting the stage for a story that blends romance with psychological and fantastical elements.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the film, while NK Ekambaram has handled the cinematography.
