Director Yuvaraj Chinnasamy's upcoming romantic entertainer 'Haiku', starring Aegan, Sridevi and Femina George, has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 23, with its certification confirmed through a poster shared by the film's publicity team on social media.

The development comes amid reports of strong pre-release business for the film. Producer Dr D Arulanandhu had earlier revealed that the project had recovered nearly 80% of its investment before its theatrical release, with its digital streaming rights among the key contributors.

Producer says film has recovered 80% of investment

In an interview with IANS, producer Dr D Arulanandhu spoke about the film's pre-release business and confirmed that a significant portion of the production investment had already been recovered.

According to the producer, 'Haiku' was made on a budget of approximately Rs 11 crore, with the sale of its various rights helping the team recoup much of the amount before the film reached theatres.

Explaining the contribution of the digital deal, Arulanandhu said, "I have got sixty percent by way of OTT rights. We have recovered almost 80 percent of the total money invested in the project even before its release."

The producer also indicated that the film's rights had attracted considerable interest from buyers. Netflix acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights before filming was completed, bringing further attention to the project ahead of its release.

What is 'Haiku' about?

The romantic entertainer follows a young man's journey from the age of 19 to 26, exploring the experiences and changes that shape his life during those years.

Speaking about what drew him to the project, Arulanandhu said the story's narration was a key factor in his decision to back the film. He also expressed confidence that its themes would resonate with viewers across age groups.

"Even a 45-year-old man would be able to connect with what happens in this film. Everyone who watches it will be able to relate to at least a couple of incidents that happen in it," he said.

One of the film's central elements involves a young man who, under extraordinary circumstances, secures admission to a women's college. His experiences as the only male student in an institution filled with women form a significant part of the narrative.
