Story overview

The series revolves around a young engineering graduate who, unable to secure a job of his choice, accepts a position as a gram panchayat secretary in a small village in Uttar Pradesh. What initially feels like a professional setback slowly transforms into a meaningful chapter of his life. Through everyday interactions, administrative hurdles, and village politics, the show paints a grounded picture of rural India while tracing the protagonist’s emotional growth and evolving relationships.

When the show premiered on April 3, 2020, it stood out for its realism and restraint. Critics and viewers alike praised its writing and performances, leading to strong word-of-mouth success. Rather than rushing out seasons, the makers opted for deliberate gaps between releases. By June 2025, four seasons had been completed, each building on earlier storylines while retaining the series’ understated tone.

Season 5 update

Interest in the next season has been intense, and actor Sanvikaa, who plays Rinki, has now confirmed that season five is officially underway. Rinki, the on-screen daughter of characters played by Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav, has emerged as a key emotional presence in the narrative. Her understated bond with Sachiv ji, portrayed by Jitendra Kumar, remains one of the most closely followed threads in the series.

In an interview with News18, Sanvikaa shared that work on the fifth season is still in progress, with the script currently being developed. She indicated that filming may begin towards the end of November or early next year. While she avoided discussing future plot points, she acknowledged that the unresolved tension between Rinki and Sachiv ji was intentionally left open. According to her, only the creators are aware of how that storyline will unfold, keeping audiences guessing.

There is no confirmed release date yet for season five. However, based on the show’s previous production timelines and its present stage of development, viewers should expect a wait similar to earlier seasons. The upcoming instalment will stream on Amazon Prime Video, where all past seasons are currently available.
