Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Youth Commission has filed a case against public figure Rahul Easwar over remarks made against actress Honey Rose.

Commission chairperson M Shajar stated that the commission had sought a report from the police based on a complaint from an organisation 'Disha', alleging that Rahul Easwar consistently makes derogatory remarks about womanhood during television channel debates.

The chairperson pointed out that arguments like those raised by Rahul cause severe mental distress to women who courageously speak out against harassment and are prepared to face legal battles. He assured that further actions will be taken based on the complaint.

The commission has also requested a report from the State Police Chief.

It also recommended that individuals who make disparaging statements against survivors should not be allowed space in such public forums.

Earlier, Honey Rose had filed a police complaint against Rahul Easwar. Rahul had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail, but the court did not grant it. Instead, the case was transferred to January 27. Apart from Honey Rose, Thrissur resident Salim also filed a complaint against Rahul. 

Rahul had stated that he would represent himself in the case.

Following Honey Rose's complaint, the police had previously arrested businessman Boby Chemmannur, who was later released on bail. After Boby's arrest, Rahul Easwar made further controversial remarks about Honey Rose on TV channels. He criticised her clothing choices and suggested that she should be subjected to a social audit.
