Punjabi singer-actor Rajvir Jawanda is battling for his life after suffering severe injuries in a motorcycle accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district on Saturday. Police said the incident happened in the Baddi area when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle while travelling to Shimla.

Condition 'extremely critical'

The 32-year-old singer was first treated at the accident site before being shifted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he arrived around 1:45 pm in what doctors described as an “extremely critical” condition.

Fortis said in a statement that Jawanda sustained “severe head and spine injuries” in the crash and “also suffered a cardiac arrest before being shifted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali.” He was immediately attended to by emergency and neurosurgery specialists, underwent detailed examinations, and was placed on advanced life support. The hospital confirmed he is on ventilator support and remains under “close monitoring.”

Political leaders pray for recovery

The news of Jawanda’s accident drew reactions from political leaders across Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote on X, “Received news that famous Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda has sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. His condition is stated to be quite critical. I pray to the Almighty for his speedy recovery. May he soon recover and return to his fans and family.”

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also posted, “Just heard about the accident of Rajwinder Jawanda Veer. Praying to the Almighty for his safety and speedy recovery.”

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring added, “Praying for his speedy recovery and good health. May Waheguru bless him with strength and healing.”

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa expressed similar wishes, with Bajwa noting, “Deeply concerned to hear about the tragic accident of Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda. Praying for his speedy recovery and strength to his family and fans in this difficult time. May Waheguru bless him with good health.”

At Jawanda’s native village Pona in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, locals gathered at a gurdwara to perform an ardas (prayer) for his recovery.

Industry colleagues visit hospital

Several Punjabi artistes rushed to Fortis Mohali following the accident, including Gippy Grewal, Jass Bajwa, Kanwar Grewal and Kulwinder Billa, who came to check on his condition and support the family.

Music and film career

Born in Ludhiana in 1992, Rajvir Jawanda initially pursued a career in law enforcement and briefly worked in the Punjab Police before turning to music. He debuted in 2014 with the single Munda Like Me and rose to fame with the hit track Kali Jawande Di.

Over the years, he has released several chart-topping songs and collaborated with artists like Maninder Buttar, known for ‘Sakhiyaan’, on the track ‘Vair’. His acting credits include roles in Punjabi films such as ‘Mindo Taseeldarni’ and ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’.

According to Apple Music’s biography, Jawanda “abandoned his first career choice of becoming a police officer to pursue music” after graduating from university.

The singer enjoys a strong fan base with 2.4 million followers on Instagram. He now lives in Mohali with his family.
