Kochi: The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an association of women in the Malayalam film industry, has criticized the Kerala government and film organizations for not releasing the Hema Committee report.

In a statement shared by the WCC on social media, the collective expressed that the government's stance on the issue is negative. Despite an order from the Kerala State Information Commission to release the report, the government has not acted accordingly.

The WCC emphasized the need for immediate government intervention to lift the stay on the release of the report. They assert that the Hema Committee report should be published and appropriate action taken. Delaying the release of the report constitutes a blatant denial of justice and violates the administration of justice as stipulated by the Constitution.

The WCC highlighted that this legal impasse represents a denial of justice to all women in the film industry. They emphasized that it is the government's primary responsibility to resolve this issue and provide justice to women. The association also criticized film organizations for remaining silent, as if it is solely WCC's responsibility to address this issue. They argued that these organizations share equal responsibility and that their silence is unfair and contrary to the rights and interests of women in cinema.

The WCC demanded that the negative stance of these organizations be rectified, as it hinders the establishment of cinema as a legitimate field of activity.
